When times get tough, gym memberships are usually one of the first “luxuries” that gets cut from your budget, together with the expensive coffee and date night.
No matter what your financial position, your health should never take a backseat. You can enjoy a healthy active lifestyle without an expensive gym contract.
Here is a great beginner workout routine that you can try out home
The routine consists of 9 different exercises. Do exercises 1 to 3 then rest for a few seconds. Now start with the first exercise again, but this time do exercises 1 to 4. Continue in this fashion until you can do all the sets.
Set 1 (Exercises 1, 2 & 3)
Set 2 (Exercises 1, 2, 3 & 4)
Set 3 (Exercises 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5)
And so forth…
1. Running on the spot for 30 seconds
2. Squats x 20
3. Wall push-ups x 10
4. Jumping jacks x 15
5. Plank (on chair) x 30 seconds
6. Lunges x 10 each leg
7. Tricep dips on chair
8. Sit-ups x 20
9. Rope skipping (If you don’t have a rope, just pretend like you are jumping with one) x 1 min
Remember to stretch after exercising to minimise “morning after” aches and pains.
